Manchester 3-0 at N.E. Babe Ruth 14’s baseball tourney

The Manchester Babe Ruth 14-year-old all-stars are still riding high at the New England tournament in Westfield, Mass.

The Mickey Hanagan all-stars built an 8-0 lead and held off Central Maine, 9-8, on Sunday. The locals, 3-0, next play today at 4 p.m. against Warwick, R.l.

Pat Swanson and Drew Merrick both went 3-for-3 with two runs scored for Manchester. Johnny Robinson, Kyle Jutras and Jason Derome each collected two hits.

Merrick pitched the first four innings, Nick Salcito the fifth and sixth, and Jake Currier hurled a scoreless seventh to earn the save for Manchester.
