NH firearms maker partners with ICE
EXETER — A New Hampshire-based firearms manufacturer has partnered with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency’s employment compliance program IMAGE (the ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers.)
“The certification process adds a level of distinction to the company that says not only is SIG Sauer committed to quality products, but they are also committed to maintaining a quality and capable workforce,” said Bruce Foucart, special agent in charge of ICE Homeland Security Investigations Boston, which covers New England.
SIG Sauer manufactures and distributes handguns and rifles. The company is also a contract supplier for ICE personnel service weapons and the first New Hampshire company to become an IMAGE partner.
“As a leader in the military and police firearms industry, SIG Sauer strives to lead by example,” said Ron Cohen, SIG Sauer president and chief executive officer, in the ICE press release.
As part of the IMAGE program, which ICE initiated in 2006, the agency provides employers with education and training on proper hiring procedures, including use of employment screening tools such as E-Verify. IMAGE certified employers also undergo an audit of their I-9 forms to ensure current employees are eligible to work in the United States.
