Heavy rains bring flood watch to NH

MANCHESTER — Parts of New Hampshire were under water Friday after storms dropped as much as five inches of rain in some areas.

Eric Sinsabaugh, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, said there was some flooding in low-lying areas and other locations with poor drainage, but most of the state was expected to get through the storm with out any major damage.

The rain was heavy enough for a flash flood watch to be issued through 9 p.m. Friday.

The rain was expected to pass through by Friday evening, leading to cooler temperatures and sunshine throughout the state over the weekend.

“So far we’re doing alright on the flood issues,” Sinsabaugh said. “It looks like New Hampshire is going to get off fairly lightly.”
