Coös County appeals state's valuation of wind farm to N.H. supreme court

In 2012, the N.H. Department of Revenue Administration appraised the 33-turbine wind facility at $217 million, a significant increase over the $113 million figure that had been discussed in 2007. Colebrook attorney Jonathan Frizzell, who represents the county, said former county administrator Sue Collins came up with a ballpark figure of $150 million for the property, but DRA representatives put forth $113 million, based on its numbers at the time. In 2007, the county entered into a ten-year Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) agreement with the wind farm, and this year received a $495,000 payment.
