West Nile Virus reported in Stratham mosquito pools

STRATHAM -- Two mosquito pools have tested positive for West Nile virus, according to Town Administrator Paul Deschaine.

Deschaine informed town leaders at Monday's selectmen's meeting after learning Monday afternoon that samples taken last week came back positive.

He said the town has "an active mosquito control program" and urged residents to wear long-sleeved clothes, use insect repellent and "avoid dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are more prevalent."

Positive tests also have shown up recently in mosquitoes from Pelham and Sandown.
