Marcus Stroman made sure the Fisher Cats' season ended on a positive note.
One of the bright lights of the team's season, Stroman struck out 11 in eight innings, leading New Hampshire to an 8-1 victory over the Binghamton Mets on Monday in New York in an Eastern League season finale.
Stroman allowed just the one run, on two hits, and walked none. He finished the season 9-5, with a 3.30 ERA.
The Fishers finished 68-72 and third in the EL's Eastern Division — a seven-win improvement over a year ago.
They scored single runs in the third (on a Jonathan Jones RBI single) and fourth (on a Ryan Schimpf run-scoring single), then busted it open with two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh.
In the sixth, Nashua's Kevin Nolan (three hits) singled home one run, and Schimpf followed with a sacrifice fly.
In the seventh, Andy Burns (three hits) brought one home on a single, and Nolan delivered two more runs with a single.
