NHIAA Roundup: Derryfield routs Stark, 9-0

Senior Colbi Vaillancourt scored four goals and added two assists to lead defending NHIAA Division III field hockey champion Derryfield School of Manchester to a 9-0 season-opening win over John Stark of Weare Wednesday.

Vaillancourt’s sister Berklee added two goals and two assists. Carolyn Adie (two goals) and Polly Carter (goal) chipped in as well. Derryfield goalie Kate Johnson made three saves for the shutout.

Field hockey

Salem 3, North 0: Kiley Keenan, Rachel Denning and Amanda Travaglini (who also had an assist)scored to lead Salem (1-0). Blue Devils goalkeeper Skylah Longtin made two saves for the shutout. Nashua North is 0-1.

Bedford 1, Central 0: Laura Costes scored the only goal of the game to lift Bedford (1-0) to a road win on Tuesday.

Boys’ soccer

Bedford 2, Bishop Guertin 0: At Bedford, Drew Smith and A.J. Pratt scored goals to lead the hosts to thier first win of the season. Bedford (1-1) keeper Nick Barnard made one save for the shutout. Bishop Guertin fell of Nashua to 0-2.
Pinkerton 2, Memorial 0: Senior David Parrott scored both goals to lead Pinkerton Academy of Derry (2-0) on Wednesday. Kyle Hicks added an assist. Memorial (0-1-1) got 11 saves from goalie Shawn Cawley.
Hopkinton 9, Conant 0: Riley McNicholas scored three goals to open the game and Hopkinton (1-0) never looked back in season-opening action Wednesday. Freshman Jacob Rockwood scored his first varsity goal.
Goffstown 2, ConVal 2: After falling behind 2-0 in the first half on Tuesday, visiting Goffstown got goals from Jake Gagnon and Mike Simons to forge a tie. ConVal got goals from Ian Szep and freshman Nile Hertzler.

Girls’ soccer

Bedford 2, Bishop Guertin 0: Saylor Clark and Regan Schiappa scored the only goals of the game to pace Bedford. Johanna Celli and Janelle Makmann added assists and goalie Brooke Barrett made 10 saves for the shutout. BG goalie Maggie Tremblay turned aside eight shots.
Goffstown 3, ConVal 1: Senior Michele Tremblay recorded a hat trick for the Grizzlies and Lexi Foster and Maggie Kelly added assists for Goffstown (2-0). ConVal (1-1) got a goal from Grace Bowman.

Pinkerton 2, Manchester Memorial 1: Katy Ann Grochmal’s goal in the 76th minute gave Pinkerton Academy of Derry (2-0) a win Wednesday. Andrea Galvin scored the other Pinkerton goal. Jessica Sweetser staked Memorial (0-1-1) to a 1-0 lead early.
