MANCHESTER — Manchester public schools have a new director of athletics.
Christopher Donovan was introduced during a meeting of the school board’s athletic committee last week.
He was hired to succeed Dave Gosselin, who stepped down when his contract expired at the end of June. Gosselin held the position on a part-time basis and there was some debate among city leaders whether a full-time AD was necessary when West, Central and Memorial high schools all had athletic directors.
Donovan comes to Manchester after spending two years as AD at Westport High School in Massachusetts. He also worked as a coach at schools in Maryland while earning a master’s degree in education, administration and supervision at Johns Hopkins University. Donovan has a bachelor’s degree from Framingham State College in Massachusetts.
