Off-duty police officer injured in Milford motorcycle crash

MILFORD — An off-duty Amherst police officer was in fair condition at a Massachusetts hospital after suffering serious injuries Wednesday when his motorcycle was hit by a car, Milford police said.

Matthew Saunders, 49, of Brookline, was riding south on Route 13 near Lull Farm shortly before 3:15 p.m. Wednesday when his motorcycle was hit by a 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by Carolye McCusker, 63, of Milford.

McCusker was turning left onto Route 13 from the Lull Farm parking lot and drove into Saunders’s path, police said.

Saunders, who was thrown from his motorcycle, was flown to University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worchester, Mass., where he was in fair condition Wednesday night, according to a nursing supervisor. McCusker was not injured, police said.
