NHIAA Roundup: Barnes, Pinkerton golfers shine

Matt Barnes carded a medalist score of 35 to lead Pinkerton Academy of Derry to a Division I golf victory at the Campbell’s Scottish Highlands in Salem Thursday. Pinkerton, with a 190 team score, improved to 8-1 on the season. Keene (8-4) was second with a 203 tally and Manchester Central (9-3) was third at 206. Salem (0-12) finished fourth at 225.
Matt Paradis of Manchester Central finished runner-up with a 37 tally followed by Pinkerton’s Eric Byrne (38), Matt Galvin (38) and Jim Rice (39). Keeton Foster of Keene also finished with a 39, tied with Garrett Sinotte of Manchester Central.

Boys’ soccer

Winnacunnet 5, Nashua North 2: In Hampton, first half goals from Alejandro Herrera and Jeremy DeMarais were assisted by Ahmed Abdelazia for Nashua North, now 0-3-1.

Girls’ soccer

Derryfield 2, Sunapee 1 (Wednesday): In Sunapee, Derryfield trailed 2:15 into the game on an own goal by Sunapee. But the Cougars responded on an unassisted goal from Emma Polgrean and the winning goal at 42:15 from Margaret Ives.

Volleyball

Campbell 3 Raymond 0 (25-10, 25-9, 25-16): Campbell (3-0) was led by Brianna Hardy (8 kills), Alex Trevains (5 kills), Lauren King (14 service points, seven aces), Val Boucher (19 service points, five aces) and Sophie Scafidi (10 assists).Alvirne 3, Bedford 2 (27-29, 19-25, 25-23, 25-14, 15-8): Marissa Corins’ 24 kills led the visitors, who improved to 2-1. Evelyn Sasko added 35 assists. Hannah Koehler (17 kills, two blocks) and Becca Foti (nine kills, 15 digs) led Bedford, which dropped to 0-2.
Hollis/Brookline 3, Timberlane 0 (25-19, 29-27, 26-24): In Plaistow, Jessica Charcia had seven service points and 10 digs for the winners, 2-1. Stella Zanpieri added six service points, and Emily Cook and Maddy Snow combined for six blocks for the Cavs. The Owls are 1-2.
