Hooksett Town Council vice chair announces resignation
HOOKSETT — Hooksett Town Council Vice Chair Leslie Boswak announced during the Town Council’s Sept. 11 meeting that she is resigning from the council effective Sept. 30.
Board Chair James Sullivan said the board was caught off guard by the announcement that Boswak, who was voted as vice chair of the council by her fellow council members in July, is stepping down.
“Well I think we were all surprised, the nine (council members) of us certainly work well together, but I can understand where she is coming from. She is very busy as the town administrator of Deerfield,” Sullivan said.
Boswak could not be reached for comment.
Sullivan said Boswak came to the town council at a time when her experience as town clerk was needed.
“She came in knowing her stuff. At that point we needed people with clear understanding of how the town works, which she accumulated over her 25 years or so as the Hooksett town clerk. She provided stability for the town, and we will definitely miss her, but we have to move on,” Sullivan said.According to a press release issued by the town, the Town Council will discuss Boswak’s replacement at its meeting on Oct. 9. Anyone interested in the position is encouraged to provide a letter of interest and statement of qualification no later than Oct. 1. The council is required to appoint a replacement within 30 days of the vacancy and the person appointed will hold the office until the next regular election.Anyone with questions should call the Town Administrator Dean Shankle at 485-8472.
