iPhone frenzy keeps police busy at Rockingham mall

SALEM – The release of the latest version of the Apple iPhone kept Salem police busy Thursday night into Friday morning as hundreds of people lined up at the Mall at Rockingham Park for the phone's release.

Two people were arrested on trespassing charges and police are also investigating an assault that left a man unconsious, according to Deputy Chief Shawn Patten.

Arrested were Mark Young, 24, of Peabody, Mass., on trespassing and disorderly conduct charges and Jennifer Young, 22, of Peabody, Mass., on charges of trespassing and possession of marijuana. Both were released on $1,000 personal recognizance.

Another man waiting at the mall was apparently assaulted and discovered unconscious by the police lying in some brush.

"He was transported to a local hospital by the Salem Fire Department. Detectives are following up on the incident."
