LOUDON - Four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon hailed the "everyday heroes" who support the New Hampshire Food Bank, during a ceremony marking a $20,000 donation to the food bank by AARP Foundation on Saturday.
The donation will support the food bank's production garden, which provides both job training and fresh, locally produced food for folks in need across the state."The everyday heroes who work and volunteer at New Hampshire Food Bank do so much to help put food on the table for people who might otherwise go hungry," said Gordon, driver of the No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet SS for Hendrick Motorsports.
"It's an honor to stand with AARP Foundation and salute their work," he said.
The presentation at New Hampshire Motor Speedway was designed to raise awareness of AARP Foundation's efforts in New England to foster long-term solutions to hunger among older adults.
Mel Gosselin, executive director of New Hampshire Food Bank, expressed gratitude to the foundation for its support.
"Like Jeff Gordon, we'll keep our foot on the gas in our efforts to help feed people here in New Hampshire," she promised.
