CONCORD -- State Police have arrested a Boscawen man after he allegedly stopped off at a public garden used by low-income families to grow food for their tables, filled several five-gallon buckets with produce and took off.

Police say the theft at the Sycamore Community Garden at the New Hampshire Technical Institute's campus was witnessed by several people. They told police the suspect filled up the buckets with an assortment of vegetables, put it in his truck and drove away.

Based on information from the witnesses, troopers tracked down Francisco Sorrentino III, 29, of Boscawen. He was arrested and will face two counts of unauthorized taking on Nov. 13 in Concord District Court. Sorrentino was released on $3,000 personal recognizance bail.
