Laconia woman faces multiple charges over April traffic death


LACONIA — A Laconia woman has been charged with negligent homicide, manslaughter, drug possession and traffic violations stemming from an April 19 car crash that killed a teenage school girl and injured another, according to the Belknap County Attorney’s Office.

Amy Lafond, 52, was indicted Thursday by a Belknap County Superior Court grand jury.

The crash took place at the intersection of Messer and Opechee streets and killed Lilyanna “Lilly” Johnson, who was leaving the nearby Laconia Middle School. Alyssa Miner, also 14, was injured, authorities said.

 

Lafond was indicted on charges of manslaughter, negligent homicide, second-degree assault and possession of Oxycodone

 

She faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of prescription medicine and traffic violations of speed, lane violation, and failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
