WALPOLE — A Hudson man has been identified as the victim of the fatal crash on Route 12 Sept. 22.
John Herczeg, 43, of Hudson was killed when the vehicle he was riding in crossed the center line on Route 12 and struck an oncoming vehicle head-on.
A Subaru Forester, driven by Mathew Flynn, 25, of Nashua, was traveling just north of Blackjack Crossing Road when the Subaru crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a Toyota RAV-4, driven by Marguerite Lucas, 64, of Springfield, Vt.
Flynn was flown by helicopter to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon and Lucas was taken by ambulance to Springfield Hospital in Springfield.
A passenger in Flynn’s vehicle, Gerard Flynn, 21, of Nashua, was also injured and flown by helicopter to UMASS Medical Center in Worcester, Mass.
Herczeg, a passenger in Flynn’s Subaru, died as a result of injuries sustained during the collision.
State police withheld his identity until a family member could identify him, said state police Sgt. Shawn Skahan Wednesday.
“He didn’t have any ID on him in the vehicle and that’s what made it difficult,” Skahan said.
Flynn was arrested at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and charged with negligent homicide. Impairment was a factor in the crash, state police said.
