The Exeter High girls' soccer team faced some adversity Thursday, but extended the program's winning streak to 33 games by beating Pinkerton Academy 3-1 in Derry.
After Pinkerton's Katy Ann Grochmal tied the game 1:17 into the second half, Exeter received goals from Katie Day and Casey Estey in the final 11 minutes. Anna Vogt also scored for the Blue Hawks, who are ranked No. 1 in the current National Soccer Coaches' Association of America national poll.
"It was a close game and we had some pressure situations we hadn't been faced with this season and I thought we responded well," Exeter coach Megan Young said. "This is the first time we've been tied throughout the year, so to respond that way was good to see."
