Dartmouth runner D’Agostino earns national honor

Senior Abbey D’Agostino of Topsfield, Mass., who won Saturday’s Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa., by 24 seconds, was named the Division I National Female Athlete of the Week by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Monday.

D’Agostino helped Dartmouth earned an overall second-place finish after she crossed the 6k course finish line in 19:44. She topped a field of 406 competitors.

In 2012 D’Agostino, competing in rainy weather, also won the Short Invitational.

She has now earned two National Athlete of the Week honors this year, the other coming on April 23 as part of the outdoor season. She was also named the 2013 National Indoor Female Athlete of the Year last winter along with numerous regional awards.
