NASHUA — A city man has been arrested on a charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated in connection with a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured two people Saturday.
Police say Jose Arana, 27, of 8 Tolles St., was under the influence of alcohol when he was driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed around 12:20 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of West Hollis and Pine streets, causing a collision with another vehicle.
One of two occupants in Arana's vehicle sustained serious injuries in the crash, while the driver of the second vehicle also suffered serious injuries, said police. They were both transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center and are expected to survive, according to authorities.
Arana was released on $2,500 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 17 at the 9th Circuit Court, Nashua District Division. If convicted of the felony, he could face up to seven years in prison, said police.
