MANCHESTER -— Three men who yelled at a driver to slow down in a back alley Monday night were later threatened by the man who returned with a black handgun and aimed it at them, according to police.
Police said the incident happened about 6:30 p.m. in a rear alley between Spruce and Cedar streets. According to the three men, they were working on a car parked in the driveway at a Spruce Street address when they saw a green sport utility vehicle traveling through the alley at a fast speed. The SUV's side view mirror nearly struck one of the men as it passed, the men reported.
The men called out to the driver to slow down. The SUV stopped, backed down the alley toward the men, and the driver got out and confronted them. He told them he had a gun, although he didn't pull one out at that time.
The driver then got back into the SUV and left. He was described as a black man about 6 feet tall weighing 250 pounds and wearing a gray tank top, jeans and sneakers. A passenger in the SUV was described as a middle-aged white man with dirty blond hair and a scruffy beard, wearing a black zip-up jacket.
A few minutes later, the SUV returned, only this time the white man was driving it. The black man got out of the passenger seat, walked toward the three men and pointed a black handgun at them as the green SUV followed slowly behind him.
Police said the man reportedly swung the gun at the head of one of the men, brushing against his head with his hand. Ultimately, the intimidating man returned to the passenger seat of the SUV, which drove off.
