Belmont toddler dies after being taken off life-support

BELMONT — Two-year-old Havana O’Flarherty, who suffered head injuries when she fell down stairs last week, died over the weekend when she was taken off life-support, according to a minister who is working with the girl’s mother.

“It’s very, very rough,” said the Rev. James Smith, pastor of First Baptist Church in Belmont. “I can’t put in words what she’s going through.” He said O’Flarherty’s mother is a single mom but did not want to name her released.

Meanwhile, homicide prosecutor Jeffery Strelzin of the N.H Attorney General’s Office said his office has become involved in the investigation. Strelzin said he would likely be able to comment further on the case in a day or two.Smith said arrangements have yet to be made.
