Wholesale restaurant supply chain plans Londonderry store
Representatives from the Restaurant Depot shared conceptual plans for a 58,000-square-foot facility to be built on Meadow Drive, off Route 12, at Wednesday’s Planning Board meeting.
The facility would feature retail sales of fresh meat, poultry and seafood, fresh produce, dairy, dry goods, frozen foods, baking supplies, food service equipment and other such goods.
No Restaurant Depot stores are in New Hampshire, but there are several in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Morgan Hollis, an attorney representing Restaurant Depot, said the business operates similar to a Costco or Sam’s Club, except members are mostly restaurant owners.
Because current zoning doesn’t permit warehouses, Hollis said the applicant would likely seek a special exemption.
Planning Board Chairman Arthur Rugg said that once final plans are presented board members would likely request the building be downsized by about 5,000 square feet.
Project Planner Gordon Leady said developers are willing to work with the town.
“This is going to be a high-quality commercial building,” Leady said. “This isn’t a big-box store; it’s got a very specific use catering to other businesses in the general area.”
