Graffiti at headquarters of GOP in Concord decried

CONCORD — The state Republican Party is calling on state Democrats to condemn “liberal political activists” after a message presumably supporting Obamacare was spray painted on the GOP headquarters building at 10 Water St.

The message — “W W J D (What Would Jesus Do) Healthcare for Everyone” — was discovered spray painted in green on the rear of the building Friday. The New Hampshire Republican State Committee Monday said it had filed a report with police about the vandalism.

New Hampshire GOP Executive Director Matt Slater issued a statement: “Our building was clearly vandalized by liberal political activists who disagree with our fiscally responsible values.”
The statement continued: “This type of outrageous and illegal political activism should be condemned by the New Hampshire Democrat Party. They need to send a clear message to liberal activists that their shameful tactics have no place in politics.”

Slater also said: “Instead of trying to engage in a serious debate about the issues facing our country, these cowardly extremists decided to spread their liberal agenda by damaging our property,”

State Democratic Party spokesman Harrell Kirstein responded: “New Hampshire Democrats are shocked and disappointed to hear about the vandalism at the New Hampshire Republican headquarters. No matter our political disagreements, there are always better ways to communicate with each other and we condemn these actions.

Kirstein continued: “Last year, someone repeatedly stole the American flag outside our office and it was never returned. We empathize with our colleagues across the aisle and hope that whoever this individual is, they step forward, apologize, and take responsibility immediately.”

GOP staff is seeking estimates to determine the cost to remove the graffiti and repair any damage.
