Exeter police are working with the FBI on an investigation into a heist that occurred on Oct. 7 at People's United Bank.
According to police, a man with a smile on his face walked into the bank at 80 Main St. around 3:30 p.m. and handed a teller a note.
The man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police said detectives are following up on leads in the case.
The man was described as 5-foot-8 with a medium build and a short salt and pepper beard. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a tan baseball cap, and dark sunglasses at the time of the heist, police said.
The man also has a tattoo of a dark blue 5-point star on the left side of his neck. The tattoo is approximately 2 1/2 inches in diameter.
Police said they are also working with police in Somersworth, where the Citizens Bank at 1 Constitutional Way was held up at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Aug. 21.
According to police, there are some similarities in both cases. Notes were handed to the tellers and the suspected robber is approximately the same height and build, and had a similar beard.
Police said they hope the public can help them identify the man seen in surveillance pictures taken from both banks.
