Two hurt in violent Manchester crash

MANCHESTER - Two men were seriously hurt when a driver lost control of his car on Bridge Street Extension, and the vehicle then struck and bounced off of a guardrail and flew about 70 feet into a stand of trees late Friday night, authorities said.

Police said the driver, Andriy Pasitcznyk, 33, of Manchester, was charged with DWI and may face additional charges related to the crash. Pasitcznyk and a passenger, Richard Hunter, 54, of Manchester, were trapped in the vehicle for about 15 minutes as rescue crews worked to free them from the wreckage.
Police said both speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash, which happened around 11:20 p.m.

District Fire Chief Al Poulin said the passenger in the Dodge Charger was removed first, but rescue crews had to cut the roof off the car to remove the driver.
The two were taken to Elliot Hospital.

The Charger was demolished.
