As defense spending tapers, Londonderry firm cuts 61 jobs
Company officials have confirmed that 61 employees have been laid off in Londonderry. Both salaried and hourly positions have been affected, according to company spokeswoman Jennifer Barton.
About 880 workers remain in Londonderry, though at one time over 1,000 were employed at the 9 Akira Way company. The 71,000-square-foot plant is set on 10 acres and is about a quarter of a mile from the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.
