MANCHESTER — The Notre Dame Bridge that spans Bridge Street across the Merrimack River will be closed to traffic Sunday night for a road race and Halloween festival.
Several streets in the Mill area will also be closed off for the Trick or Trot 3K run, which is scheduled to begin in Arms Park at 5 p.m.
The course leaves the park and goes south on Commercial Street to Spring Street, where runners will head east to Plaza Drive. The course heads north on Plaza to Bridge Street, then west across the river and back again to Charles for a one-block loop back to Canal Street, then return to the park via Spring and Commercial streets.
Police are shutting down roads around the course including Spring Street from Elm to Commercial, and Canal Street from Dow to Mechanic streets from 5 to 6 p.m. during the run, which is sponsored by the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth.
Keith Tharp, marketing manager for Millennium Running, said Wednesday about 1,800 people had registered and organizers were hoping as many as 2,000 would take part on Sunday.
Intown Manchester will also be hosting the “Run for Your Life! Zombie Walk” at 4 p.m. at Arms Park during the Halloween Festival, sponsored by Coca-Cola of Northern New England.
