Bass, Bradley lead C’s over Nets

Brandon Bass and Avery Bradley each scored 16 points to lead the Boston Celtics past the Brooklyn Nets, 101-97, in an exhibition contest at TD Garden Wednesday. Boston center Vitor Faverani contributed 15 points, seven rebounds and six blocks in 24 minutes.

Gerald Wallace netted 14 points and Jeff Green added 12 points.

Tyshawn Taylor had 15 points to lead Brooklyn. Former Boston stars Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett made the trip to TD Garden but elected not to play.

Boston led 93-92 before Bradley made two free throws and assisted on a 17-foot jumper by Bass. Kelly Olynyk stretched the lead to 99-92 with a layup with one minute to play. Bradley accounted for the last two Boston points with free throws, his last one coming with 37 seconds. Down four points, the Nets went to Taylor, who missed a three-point shot with 29 seconds left. The Celtics managed to run the clock out for the win.

It was Boston’s final preseason game. The regular season begins Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Toronto against the Raptors.
