In Manchester’s aldermanic races in Wards 7-8, the New Hampshire Union Leader endorses the following candidates:
Ward 9: Victoria Sullivan. Seldom does a newcomer to city politics enter an aldermanic race with as much experience and commitment as Victoria Sullivan has. She is president of the Highland Goffe’s Falls PTA and founder of the school’s Drama Club, a baseball, basketball and soccer coach, a selectman, and a community volunteer. She is the sort of person who volunteers at her local school but also supports charter schools and school choice. She has been an advocate for better policing and smarter spending. She strongly supports the spending cap and believes the city can improve the schools and public safety without spending more. She would be a powerful and refreshing voice on the board.
Ward 10: Phil Greazzo. Alderman Greazzo consistently shows his value by asking hard questions at board meetings — often good, important questions that no one else is asking. He is a proven and forceful advocate for making the city more responsive to the people and the taxpayers, and he deserves to be re-elected.
Ward 12: Keith Hirschmann. Candidate Hirschmann, a well-known Manchester Republican, has been a small-business owner in the city who would bring that important perspective to the board. He wants to do the mundane but critical ward work such as providing better sidewalks as well as the bigger-picture work of making the city more welcoming for businesses.
