Top high school cross country runners to meet Saturday in Nashua

The 2013 NHIAA Cross Country Meet of Champions will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Nashua South’s Mine Falls Park on Saturday. The girls’ race begins at 2:30 p.m. and the boys’ race will start at 3:20 p.m.
Last week in the Division Cross Country Meets at Derryfield Park in Manchester, the top girls’ time was posted by Emma Newton of Division II Hollis/Brookline in 18:29. She narrowly defeated Elisabeth Danis of Coe-Brown Academy (18:31) and Maegan Doody of Oyster River of Durham in 18:32. The next fastest time was registered by Shannon Murdock of Exeter (18:35).
The girls’ course record for the Meet of Champions at Mine Falls is held by Georgia Griffin (2007) of Hanover in 17:28.0
In the boys’ field, Jeremy Brassard of Coe-Brown of Northwood (15:51) posted the best time last week at Derryfield Park during the Division II meet. His closest competitors based on last week’s times are Tim Fafard (16:04) of Mascenic of Ipswich, Eli Moskowitz (16:05) of Souhegan and Tristam Winship (16:06) of Bedford.
