Incumbent T.J. Jean is defending his bid for reelection for a third term against Dennis Hancock and Fred Leonard.

All three spots on the police commission are being contested. Two incumbents James McManus Jr. and David Winship Jr. are being challenged by former city councilors Derek Peters and Lucien Levesque for Wards 1 and 2 and in Wards 3 and 4, respectively. In Wards 5 and 6, it is a three-way battle between former city councilor Bruce Lindsay, retired Rochester police Officer Tony Macaione Jr. and Planning Board member Robert Jaffin.

Meanwhile, there are three contested races for the School Board: Incumbent Caroline McCarley faces off against Ray Turner in Ward 2B; Doris Gates is challenging incumbent Karen Stokes in Ward 5A; and incumbent Anne Grassie defends her at-large position against Kathy Dunton.
