Alvirne football coach Phillips resigns

New Hampshire Union Leader

November 07. 2013 8:03PM

Mark Phillips' tenure as Alvirne of Hudson's varsity football coach was a short one.

Phillips resigned Thursday, after one season with the Broncos. Alvirne finished with a 1-8 record in Division I this season.

"I am very proud of the work and effort of my staff this past season," Phillips said in a statement. "I am proud of the effort and improvement of my players this season. I am grateful for the support of the Alvirne administration, the parents and the Hudson community . Unfortunately, for reasons which are personal to me, I no longer feel I can dedicate the time and energy necessary to continue on in the capacity of head varsity football coach. A great foundation has been laid for the resurgence of Alvirne football in the future, and I wish them nothing but success as they move forward."

Before taking over at Alvirne, Phillips was an assistant coach under Tony Johnson at Bishop Guertin in Nashua from 1994 to 2010.
