Goffstown man charged in alleged assault on Cape Cod
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. — A Goffstown man was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly assaulting a woman and three men, and hitting another woman with a pickup truck, after allegedly trying to buy drugs, police said
Liam Brock, 31, of Bay Street, was charged with two counts of assault with intent to kill, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon – his truck, one count of assault and battery with his truck, one count of assault and one count of destruction of property valued at $250, said Bourne Police Sgt. James Czyryca.
Brock pleaded not guilty to the charges at his arraignment at Falmouth District Court in Massachusetts on Thursday. He was held on $2,500 bail. Czyryca said he was not aware if Brock had made bail.
On Wednesday at about 10:30 p.m., Bourne police responded to Studio Drive in Buzzards Bay on Cape Cod for a report that a pickup truck had struck a woman and a parked car.
According to Czyryca, Brock drove to the house with another man and a woman, and asked a woman standing outside the residence for cocaine. After she said no, Brock grabbed the woman's hair and screamed at her, police said.
The woman's father and two brothers saw the incident from inside the house and ran outside to intervene.
"He allegedly got into an argument with the woman and tried to make a hasty retreat. He backed up and clipped another woman with his truck," said Czyryca. "He fled the area and was arrested at another location a couple of miles away from the house."
Brock allegedly stopped the truck on the lawn and began to drive toward the three men, but they ran toward a nearby garage. Brock hit the passenger side of a parked car in the driveway, police said.
According to the Cape Cod Times on Friday, Brock told officers he had been "jumped" at the house after being invited there. Brock told police he did not realize he had struck someone as he left the scene and said he drove forward only because he had run out of room while backing up.
Brock added that he struck the other car accidentally after the men ran toward his truck and began hitting it with a bat and golf club. At the time of the incident, Brock told police, he feared for his life and did not mean to hit anyone.
