A goal by Pierre Omanga late in the first half proved to be the difference as top-seeded Southern New Hampshire University edged No. 4 Adelphi University in a Northeast-10 men's soccer championship semifinal Friday night at Larkin Field in Manchester.

The Penmen, ranked No. 10 nationally, extended their best-in-the-nation win streak to 17 and are now 17-1, while the Panthers likely see their season come to a close at 11-7.

Southern New Hampshire will host second-seeded Merrimack College on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Northeast-10 championship game, the second straight year the Penmen and Warriors will meet in the title tilt. Last season SNHU prevailed 2-1, while in the two teams' meeting earlier this season, Southern New Hampshire posted a 1-0 win at Larkin Field.

Southern New Hampshire is seeking its second straight Northeast-10 tournament title and the fifth in program history.

Women's hockey

Dartmouth 3, Clarkson 0: The woes continued against ranked teams for the Big Green (1-5-0, 1-4-0 ECAC) as the team from the Upper Valley is 0-3-0 this year against top-10 squads.

Clarkson's Jessica Gillham, Genevieve Bannon and Jamie Lee Rattray scored goals.

Erica Howe earned the shutout for Clarkson , stopping all 11 shots she faces while Dartmouth's Lindsay Holdcroft turned aside 31 shots in a losing effort.

Southern Maine 4, Plymouth State 1: Sophomore Chelsea Boucher, Gilford, recorded a goal and two assists Friday to lead Southern Maine.

Women's basketball

LIU Post 64, SNHU 58: Kiki Sears totaled 19 points as LIU Post held off a late Southern New Hampshire University rally Friday evening in the opener for both teams at the SNHU Fieldhouse. The game marked the season opener for both schools.

Sophomore Amra Elezovic, of Manchester, making her Penmen debut after starting her collegiate career at UMass Lowell, matched her career-high of 21 points, going 7-for-16 from the floor and 7-for-11 at the free throw line.

Women's volleyball

Penn 3, Dartmouth 1: After dropping the first set Friday, 25-19, the Quakers rallied, taking the next three, 25-20, 25-14 and 25-13.
