College Roundup: UNH football reaches 137th straight week in the polls

The University of New Hampshire football team's 33-17 home victory against James Madison on Saturday helped extend the Wildcats' streak of FCS Top 25 appearances alive at 137 straight weeks.

UNH has been ranked in every poll since Sept. 13, 2004. The second-longest current FCS streak belongs to Montana State, which has been ranked for 54 straight weeks.

UNH (5-4) is ranked 23rd in The Sports Network FCS poll with 513 points. UNH is ranked just outside the Top 25 in the FCS Coaches Poll, placing first among other teams receiving votes with 52.

UNH has two games remaining on its 2013 schedule, at Albany on Saturday and vs. Maine at Cowell Stadium on Nov. 23.

Hockey

UNH men: The Wildcats aren't ranked in either the USCHO.com Top 20 or the USA Today/USA Hockey poll. UNH (3-3-5 overall, 2-2 Hockey East) swept UMass over the weekend and will face Brown tonight at the Whittemore Center.

Field hockey

UNH: America East champion UNH will travel to Durham, N.C., to face Duke University in an NCAA Division I tournament game on Saturday.

UNH (15-6 overall, 5-0 America East) will be making its 10th NCAA tournament appearance after defeating Albany for the America East title on Saturday, winning 3-2.

Duke is 14-6 overall.Keene State: Little East Conference champion Keene State earned home-field advantage for its NCAA Division III tournament game against Gordon College on Wednesday. Keene State enters the NCAA tournament with a 20-3 record. Gordon is 17-5.Plymouth State: The Panthers will host the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Tournament while serving as the top seed. Plymouth State (13-6) will be seeking its second straight ECAC New England title and its third in four years. The Panthers will face the winner of Wednesday's first-round matchup between fourth-seeded Smith College (11-8) and fifth-seeded Worcester State (11-8), on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Women's soccer

Keene State: The Owls won the Little East Conference title with a win over Eastern Connecticut and will face Haverford College (Pa.) in the opening round of the NCAA Division III tournament in Williamstown, Mass., on Saturday. Keene State is 17-4-1); Haverford is 10-3-6.Colby-Sawyer: The Chargers will make their first NCAA Division III tournament appearance when they play at Montclair State (N.J.) on Saturday at 5 p.m. Colby-Sawyer, the North Atlantic Conference champion, enters the tournament with a 19-3 record. Montclair State is 18-0-1.

Men's soccer

Colby-Sawyer: The Chargers have earned a spot in the Eastern College Athletic Conference tournament for the second time and will play at Norwich (Vt.) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Colby-Sawyer enters the tournament with a 9-8-3 record. Norwich is 11-4-4.

Volleyball

Colby-Sawyer: The North Atlantic Conference champion Chargers will face SUNY-New Paltz in the NCAA Division III tournament at Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., on Friday at 3 p.m.

Colby-Sawyer is 22-10; New Paltz is 32-6.
