Need a bigger hammer: Obamacare in serious shape
To the hammer, every problem looks like a nail. And to President Barack Obama, whose only demonstrable skill is getting himself elected, every setback calls for another campaign.
The President is getting the band back together for one last campaign, to salvage the Affordable Care Act. The law’s implementation has been an unqualified disaster; millions of dollars wasted on a glitchy website, millions of Americans with cancellation letters from their insurance companies, and billions in higher premiums for the unwanted policies that will eventually be sold through the Obamacare Exchanges.
Obama used a speech before “Organizing for America,” the political front group formed from the remnants of his re-election campaign, to blatantly lie about his oft-repeated promise that “If you like your healthcare plan, you will be able to keep your healthcare plan. Period.”
That was never true, and plenty of people pointed it out at the time. And as the cancellation notices flood mailboxes across America, Obama now claims that he only promised that you could keep your plan “if it hadn’t changed since the law was passed.”
That’s not what he said, and not what he wanted us to believe. But the President thinks he can rally his political allies into a nationwide campaign to get the public behind Obamacare.
The President’s namesake health care law has not suffered from a lack of public attention. Obama has been touting it since 2007. Obamacare is a mess, and no amount of community organizing or social networking will fix it.
