College Hockey: UNH completes weekend sweep of NU

Nick Sorkin is on fire.

Sorkin scored his seventh goal of the season, at the 12:59 mark of the second period, helping the University of New Hampshire to a 4-1 victory over Northeastern on Saturday night at the Whittemore Center. The win enabled the Wildcats to sweep the weekend series.

Sorkin, a senior forward from Rockville, Md., has a goal in four straight games. His goal on Saturday night put the Wildcats ahead to stay on the way to their fifth straight triumph. UNH is 6-5-1 overall, 4-2-0 in Hockey East.

All four UNH goals came on the power play. Casey Thrush scored 20 seconds after Sorkin, and Sorkin's linemate, Matt Willows, potted his third of the year at the 10:38 mark of the third period. Grayson Downing added his third of the year at 17:53.

Goalie Casey DeSmith made 31 saves, allowing only Kevin Roy's power-play goal in the third period. DeSmith blanked NU on Friday.

Quinnipiac 3, Dartmouth 1

The Big Green are still looking for their first win.

Bryce Van Brabant, Cory Hibbler and Jordan Samuels-Thomas scored for host Quinnipiac in its victory over visiting Dartmouth on Saturday night.

The Big Green dropped to 0-8 overall, 0-6 in the ECAC. Quinnipiac improved to 11-1-1 overall, 5-0-1 in the ECAC.

Tim O'Brien scored for a second-period goal for Dartmouth, which takes a break before hosting Harvard on Saturday, Nov. 30.
