USA Chicken moving into vacant KFC in Derry
The former KFC restaurant at 10 Crystal Ave. in Derry looks much better after vegetation was recently removed by workers. A new restaurant, USA Chicken & Biscuit, plans to open at the site before Christmas. (HUNTER MCGEE/Union Leader Correspondent)
USA Chicken & Biscuit will be adding a second restaurant to its operation with the takeover of the former KFC.
The town is finalizing paperwork for the sale, and the new owner’s name wasn’t available, Sioras said.
The property at 10 Crystal Ave. has sat vacant for months as tall weeds grew in the front of the building and at the side of the parking lot. But a lot has changed since the restaurant was sold earlier this month, according to town officials.
A crew of five workers is still laboring to clean the interior of the restaurant and have it ready to open before Christmas, Woodod said.
“It’s kind of like family,” he said of the business.
The restaurant features chicken and has other menu selections such as hamburgers and grilled sandwiches. The kitchen will be open and in the front, so customers can easily view the cooking process, Woodod said.
