Manchester man charged in attempt to purchase gun

TIMOTHY O'DONNELL

MERRIMACK — A Manchester man, convicted of violating a protective order in Massachusetts, was arrested after he denied the past charge and attempted to buy a firearm from a local gun dealer, police said.

Timothy O'Donnell, 48, of 17 Roundabout Way, was arrested Thursday and charged with unsworn falsification.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for O'Donnell after an investigation that began in October when he allegedly tried to buy the gun. Police said O'Donnell indicated on the firearms purchase form that he had never violated a domestic violence protective order when he had been convicted in 2010 in Massachusetts of violating such an order.

What's next: O'Donnell is free on $1,000 personal recognizance bail pending a Dec. 10 arraignment in 9th Circuit Court, Merrimack District Division.
