Delay & deceit: Obamacare subterfuge continues
November 24. 2013 4:44PM
The Obama administration does not want to risk a repeat of October’s Obamacare signup debacle just before next year’s congressional elections. So the Department of Health and Human Services is bumping back Obamacare’s 2014 open enrollment period by one month, from Oct 15 to Nov. 15. The 2014 elections are to be held on Nov. 4. What an incredible coincidence.
When Obamacare was passed into law in 2010, it was set to take effect in 2013 — conveniently after the 2012 presidential election. These date selections were not random.
Deception always has been at the heart of this law. Sen. Obama campaigned against an individual mandate. He got elected, then began pushing for an individual mandate, which became the core of the law.
The final bill was rushed to a vote before any member of Congress could possibly have read it. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi inadvertently acknowledged that when she famously said “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what’s in it.”
President Obama and Democrats in the House and Senate falsely told the American people that they could keep their insurance and their doctor. The Obama administration unilaterally changed the passed law by issuing numerous waivers, exemptions and delays, none of which was approved by Congress.
Now HHS is trying to ensure that people do not learn about changes to their plans or premiums until after next year’s congressional elections. The deception never ends.
