UPDATE: Convicted sex offender turns himself in

A convicted sex offender wanted on probation violations turned himself in to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday in Manchester.
William Gagnon, 40, whose last known address was in Manchester, was wanted on charges of failure to register as a sex offender as well as an outstanding warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.
Gagnon turned himself in after seeing his photo in the local media, according to a release from the sheriff's office. He is being held without bail at the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections until his initial court appearance.
Previous story follows:
CONCORD — The U.S. Marshals’ New Hampshire Fugitive Task Force is asking the public for help in finding fugitive sex offender William Gagnon, 40, last known address in Manchester.

Manchester police and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office both requested the task force's help in finding and arresting Gagnon.

He is being sought on two outstanding arrest warrants: one for failure to maintain his sex offender registration and the other for probation violations in connection with a prior conviction on the same offense, failing to maintain his sex offender registration.

He was previously featured as a U.S. Marshal's Fugitive of the Week in 2010 on his first sex offender registration violation.

Gagnon is required to register as a sex offender because of a 1996 conviction in Essex County (Mass.) Superior Court of two counts of felonious sexual assault of a victim between the age of 13 and 16, with an age difference of more than four years, and aggravated felonious sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13.

Gagnon is a 6-foot-1 white man weighing 240 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and a tattoo of Speedy Gonzalez on his right shoulder and the initials "JED" tattooed on his right arm. He has noticeable scars on his chin and on his right knee.

Authorities say he could be hiding anywhere in southern New Hampshire or northern Massachusetts.

Anyone who knows of Gagnon's whereabouts or who has seen someone resembling him is asked to call the U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force in New Hampshire at 225-1632, WEB-TIP, or the local police.
