Derry fire displaces five

DERRY — A family of five was displaced by a fire that damaged their home Wednesday night, according to a Fire Department release.

The fire at 86 Bypass 28 was reported about 5:30 p.m. and was knocked down within minutes of firefighters arriving, the release said. The two adults, three children and family pets made it out of the home without injury.

The fire, which is not considered suspicious, damaged the first-floor kitchen and living room, while there was smoke and heat damage throughout the home, the release said.

The family was assisted by the American Red Cross, the release said.
