Hooksett man arrested on assault charges

HOOKSETT — A local man was arrested Thursday night on charges he assaulted a woman, police said in a release.

Richard Bates, 50, of 76 Merrimack St., hit the woman, who police did not name, several times and pushed her into a refrigerator, where she hit her head and briefly lost consciousness, the release said. The victim had “multiple bruises,” but refused medical treatment, the release said.

Bates was charged with second-degree assault.

Christie is the real deal

We have found Gov. Chris Christie to be the most consistent, the most confident in his abilities, the most tested under fire, and the most likely to regain the White House from a disastrous Democratic regime.
