Ex-Littleton man sentenced to prison for DWI crash

HAVERHILL — A former Littleton man was sentenced to prison following his guilty pleas in a 2012 drunken driving case that left his four passengers, all North Country residents in their 20s, seriously injured.

Jason Therrien, 35 at the time of the crash, pleaded guilty last week to one count of aggravated drunken driving with serious bodily injury resulting and was sentenced to 3½ to seven years in prison.

Appearing before Judge Peter H. Bornstein in Grafton County Superior Court in North Haverhill, Therrien also received a consecutive deferred sentence of 1 to 3 years after pleading guilty to second-degree assault.

Therrien was originally indicted on six Class B felony charges — four for second-degree assault and two aggravated driving while intoxicated counts — for the Sept. 28, 2012, crash on North Littleton Road that, according to the March 2013 indictments, left passenger Sidney Walker with fractures to facial bones and/or the cervical spine; Brittany Milligan with fractures of the sternum and/or ribs; and head, skull and/or brain trauma to both Jonathan McConnell and Katelynn Wright.

Therrien failed to maintain control of the Toyota Camry he was driving at 75 mph in a 50 mph zone, according to the indictments, and it left the roadway and slammed into a utility pole and tree.

One passenger was ejected, another was partially ejected, and emergency personnel had to perform extensive work at the scene to extricate others from the demolished vehicle, according to police, who said the car rolled several times.

Therrien, who suffered facial lacerations in the crash, was fined $2,000 and must also pay more than $100,000 restitution to victims, Bornstein ordered.

He’s scheduled to report Feb. 15 to prison in Concord.
