Man who led Rochester police on chase held on $100K bail

ROCHESTER — A man wanted in Vermont will be held on $100,000 cash bail after allegedly leading area police on a high-speed chase — traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph — through the downtown Wednesday.

Reuben Adams, 36, who has been hiding since an incident in Vermont, was charged with being a fugitive from justice from Vermont, two felony counts of reckless conduct and several misdemeanors.

Assistant County Attorney Dorothy Walch said Adams entered no plea to the felonies and not guilty for the remaining charges during his video arraignment in Rochester on Thursday.

Walch said Adams will be held without bail in Strafford County Jail in Dover on the fugitive from justice charge and $100,000 cash for the local charges. If he makes bail, she added a hearing must be scheduled to determine where the money came from.
Adams is scheduled to appear for a probable cause hearing for the local felonies and an extradition hearing — to determine whether he wants to sign a waiver or argue against returning to Vermont — Dec. 20 at 1p.m. in 7th Circuit Court in Rochester.
