Bow man robbed at gunpoint near YMCA

MANCHESTER — A 53-year-old Bow man told police he was robbed at gunpoint at about 7:30 Monday night as he walked down the alley next to the Greater Manchester YMCA, headed to Stark Street.

The man said he was approached by two men he estimated were 18 or 19 years old, medium build, wearing black jackets and dark pants, clean shaven. One man had a mole in his left chin area. No height estimates were given.

The robber with the black semi-automatic pistol had his hood pulled up. The robbers demanded money, but also took the victim's cell phone before running north towards Mechanic Street.

Cash, GPS unit taken

Two men making a delivery at Yee Dynasty, 830 S. Willow St., at about 6:30 p.m. Monday reported to police that cash and other items had been taken from their truck.

The men, who work for Richland Distribution in Brockton, Mass., were at the restaurant making a delivery, and when they returned to their truck, they discovered a black bag, containing cash picked up on previous deliveries, was missing, as were A GPS unit and a set of house keys.

Hit and run vehicle sought

Manchester police are investigating whether a truck involved in a hit and run in the alley near Auburn and Beech streets about 7:15 Sunday night may also be a getaway vehicle.

When police responded to the alley for a reported hit and run involving a 29-year-old pedestrian who suffered minor injuries, the victim said he'd been trying to get close enough to get a better description of the vehicle, which had been operating recklessly on Auburn Street.

The injured man told police the truck, believed to be a silver Nissan Frontier pickup, was going the wrong way on Maple Street before turning into the alley.

Police later learned a vehicle matching that description had left the area of 351 Auburn St., shortly before the alley accident. A wallet had been stolen from the Auburn Street residence.
