College Roundup: Hawk men cruise to non-league win; UNH falls

Senior John Nielsen hit five 3-point attempts en route to a game-high 21 points, leading the St. Anselm College men’s basketball team to an 84-71 non-league victory over Post University on Sunday at the Hawks’ Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.

The Hawks, who have won six of their last seven contests, improved to 7-3 on the season. The Eagles fell to 2-8.

Roy Mabrey added 18 points for the Hawks, and Chris Santo and Mike McCahey tacked on 16 each. URI 62, UNH 48: Patrick Konan scored nine points and grabbed eight boards in the Wildcats’ loss at Rhode Island on Sunday. The Rams led 14-1 and 22-2.

UNH dropped to 2-9.

Women’s basketball

Boston University 69, UNH 58: Sophomore Corinne Coia scored 19 points and added 10 rebounds in the Wildcats’ loss in Durham on Sunday.

The Wildcats (4-7) also received 14 points from Nashua’s Kelsey Hogan. They trailed by only 57-52 with 4:32 remaining before BU (4-8) closed it out.
