Seven indicted in connection with riot inside Strafford County jail

DOVER - Several county jail inmates could face additional time in prison as a result of charges brought against them for “tumultuous or violent conduct” during their stay at Strafford County Jail in October.On Dec. 19, a grand jury handed up the indictments against Thomas Campbell, 26, Ryan Lane, 35, Joshua LaPierre, 29, Tino Marino, 28, Christopher Morin, 28, Robert Provost, 22, and Gary Tuttle, 23, on charges of taking part in a riot which occurred inside the facility Oct. 21.According to the indictments, eight people - including Jonathan May, 26, who waived his right to an indictment - refused to return to their cells, caused “substantial” property damage, armed themselves and established a barricade with makeshift items, threw objects and caused public alarm.It is unclear how many people were involved in the incident or whether anyone was injured.Campbell, LaPierre, Morin, Provost and Tuttle are currently being held in the Strafford County jail. Lane is currently being held in the Hamden County jail in Ludlow, Mass., and Marino resides in Concord, according to the indictments.They are scheduled to appear for an arraignment in Strafford County Superior Court Friday.Each count of riot, which is a class B felony, could result in a maximum of 3½ to 7 years in N.H. State Prison.
