DERRY — Local artists will get a chance to show off their pottery skills as Community Caregivers of Greater Derry hosts the ninth annual Potter’s Bowl fundraiser later this month.
More than a dozen different types of soups donated from local restaurants will be available during the Potter’s Bowl, executive director Cindee Tanuma said.
Breads and desserts will also be served.
A pottery wheel demonstration will be held prior to the event for waiting patrons. A 50/50 raffle will be featured again as an added fundraiser along with a silent auction.
Items for the auction will be donated from other New England artists and craftsmen. The items will include gift certificates, oil paintings, acrylic paintings, matted photography, watercolor, and handcrafted jewelry. The value of all donated art totals more than $5,000.
The popular event is Friday, Jan. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Promises to Keep, on Route 28 in Derry. For a $35 ticket, patrons will be able to select a pottery bowl handcrafted by a New Hampshire artist, said Tanuma.
Tickets go on sale on Monday, Jan. 6, at Community Caregivers, located in the Derry Masonic Temple at 58 E. Broadway. Tickets will be sold during the business day, or call 432-0877.
Only 135 tickets will be available for sale and the event has sold out in past years, Tanuma said.
Founded in 1983, Community Caregivers helps the elderly, disabled, chronically and temporarily ill stay in their own homes and communities as long as possible. Volunteers assist with such tasks as medical transports, light chores, grocery shopping, friendly visiting, yard work and home upkeep.
Tanuma said there is still time for anyone interested in donating fine art, pottery or homemade craft.
