Derry teen dies from New Year's Eve crash injuries

DERRY — A Derry teenager has died from injuries suffered in a car crash on New Year's Eve.

Kyle Ross, 17, a Pinkerton Academy student, died Wednesday at 3 p.m., Derry police Capt. Vern Thomas said Thursday morning.

Ross was driving the car that went out of control and slammed into a tree at a high rate of speed at Gulf Road and Hampshire Drive late Tuesday night, according to police.

A passenger, Johanna Morse, 16, also a Pinkerton student, sustained life-threatening injuries and remained in critical condition at a Boston Hospital.

Police said a 16-year-old boy from Chester who also was in the vehicle suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

The crash is under investigation by the Derry police crash team, Thomas said.
